Heavy crude oils provide an interesting situation for the economics of petroleum development. The resources of heavy oil in the world are more than twice those of conventional light crude oil. Oil sands reserves have only recently been considered to be part of the world‘s oil reserves as higher oil prices and new technology enable them to be profitably extracted and upgraded to usable products. Enhanced Oil Recovery in Heavy Oil is an enormous opportunity, with total global EOR recovery potential estimated to exceed 750 billion barrels of oil. The Middle East has the greatest EOR potential with over 475 billion barrels of recoverable oil. opportunities exist in Asia.

Global Heavy Oil Technology Summit – Tap the Enormous Potential! promises to highlight new commercial opportunities and industrial advancements in the fields of Heavy Oil and Oil Sands. It highlights the challenges and opportunities faced in the Heavy Oil & Oil Sands world.
